As well as independent volunteers and volunteers for one day we can also accommodate large groups of volunteers. Since 2004 we have been welcoming ever increasing in size groups from Leeds University in the UK (that's some of the motley crew from 2007 above!).
Summer 2008 saw our first groups from Aston University and Middlesex University. The Middlesex girls worked on refurbishing a Deaf Unit at Walakuba West Primary School and the Aston Crew worked on Bubugo Primary School and Musima Primary School.
Staying on site at the schools really allows the groups to become involved with the school, helping in the classrooms, putting on plays and of course working on the refurbishment!

We also have annual groups from Hands of Help, Madventurer and Africa Venture.
The most popular time for groups to visit is in the summer months (June - September) which coincides with the summer holidays in the UK. We can however work with groups at any time of the year.
All large groups go out to live on site at a school and for the first time last year (2007) we sent the Leeds crew up to the Murchison Project and they loved every minute of it. They were able to go on game drives, boat cruises, lounge by the Nile and of course work hard in the scorching heat!
We like to set the challenge for all group members coming to volunteer with Soft Power to throw themselves into fundraising and aim to bring a donation of £500 each! We know you can do it!
If you would like to bring a group out to work with Soft Power Education, please email volunteering@softpowereducation.com.
